The Good News of Jesus
for Mormons

Dear Latter-day Saint,

You may call yourself a Christian because you believe in Jesus, but while the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints uses similar words that Christians use, we have very different definitions for many of the same words.

For example, both groups say that we believe in Jesus. Christians, however, believe that Jesus is God Almighty, the eternal, uncreated creator of the entire universe. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, on the other hand, teaches that Jesus is a “spirit child” of God who at one point in time did not exist. (Christians believe Jesus had no beginning, and Mormons believe Jesus had a beginning.) This has massive implications for how Christians and Mormons understand the Gospel.

Ultimately, this difference in definitions means that you, as a Mormon, likely have never heard the true Gospel of Jesus Christ as Christians understand it.
